Robert G. Clarke, AIA NCARB

As the president and lead architect for award winning CBI Design Professionals, Robert is responsible for design and client advocacy in all aspects of a client’s design project and subsequent construction. Known for his architectural expertise, he has designed and overseen construction of luxury homes, multi-family projects, churches and commercial structures both new and renovated throughout Michigan and several other states. Prior to co-founding the firm, he was the architectural manager for Bruce E Bordener and Associates and preceding that, he was owner of Clarke Building and Alterations where he was the builder for residential renovation projects. Robert also has responsibility for the day to day operations of the company as President and Owner.
Robert has multiple degrees in Architecture from Lawrence Institute of Technology, including a Master’s of Architecture, Professional Degree in Architecture and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Architecture. He also holds a degree from Rochester College. Robert is licensed to practice architecture in the State of Michigan and has held licenses in Florida, Illinois, North Carolina and Colorado. He also holds a national certification from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and maintains an active position as a member of the American Institute of Architecture, AIA Michigan and AIA Detroit.
Robert is an adjunct faculty in the Architecture Department of Oakland Community College, Auburn Hills Michigan. This position, along with his work as a supervisor for NCARB’s intern development program (IDP), has helped to ensure the long term development of future architects.
Robert has held multiple positions with volunteer and non-profit organizations. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees with Rochester College and Michigan Christian Youth Camp. Rob enjoys hiking and traveling to Europe and other fun locations when not busy designing his clients’ dreams.

Joy Wohlschlegel

Joy previously worked for CBI Design Professionals from 2005-2010 as the office manager and is excited to rejoin our team as an Assistant to the President. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and 12 years of extensive accounting/administrative experience. She has worked in the service and manufacturing industries assisting in: company acquisitions, performing day-to-day accounting and inventory operations, providing financial planning and project management support. While not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and is actively involved in her church.

Amanda Fox, Associate AIA
Project Manager | Email
Amanda is a Project Manager with CBI Design Professionals and has been with the firm since the start of her career. She assists Rob with all aspects of a project, from the beginning to completion and oversees many projects in the office. Amanda graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Architecture in 2003 from Lawrence Technological University and joined the firm that year. In 2005, she received her Masters of Architecture with honors also from Lawrence Tech.
Amanda is currently pursuing her Architectural license through the State of Michigan and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. She is an Associate member of the American Institute of Architects, AIA Michigan and AIA Detroit. Amanda has thrived in a male-dominated career field and enjoys the daily interactions with builders and clients. When she is not at work, she loves spending time with her family, especially her 3 nieces, who have taken it upon themselves to decorate her workspace!

Steven D. Smith
Project Coordinator/CAD Operator | Email
Steven has worked for CBI Design Professionals since inception and with the team when it was the predecessor firm, Bruce E. Borderner and Associates. Starting out hand-drafting and print running, Steven has extensive knowledge of the business and the project management needs of clients. He has 25 years of hands-on documentation experience and has executed hundreds of new and remodeled residential and small commercial projects. Steven has lived in the area his entire life and when he’s not working, he enjoys remodeling, wood-working, watching and playing various sports.

Lily Paterson

With the firm, Lily is a CAD Operator and is responsible for computer and hand drafting. She graduated summa cum laude from Lawrence Technological University in 2016 with her Bachelor of Science in Architecture, after studying architecture and graphic design at Oakland Community College. Currently, she is pursuing her Masters of Architecture from Lawrence Technological University, expecting to graduate in 2018. She is also involved in the architecture and design honor society of Tau Sigma Delta. In the future, Lily plans to work towards architectural licensure in the state of Michigan while gaining field experience. In her free time, she enjoys reading, sketching, camping, and spending time with her friends and family.

Anthony Marrocco

Anthony graduated from Lawrence Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 2016. Anthony has studied abroad in China twice and loves visiting different cities and experiencing new cultures. Anthony is a CAD operator that previously worked with residential projects and commercial renovations before joining CBI. He is planning to go back to Lawrence Tech for his Master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning. Anthony aspires to be a licensed architect and dreams to one day collaborate with a team that focuses on Urban Design and Planning.
In his free time, Anthony is an Ice hockey coach and an avid golfer. When he is not traveling or spending time with friends, he enjoys having lengthy dinners with his family and his 11 Nieces and Nephews.

Kelli Mattson

Kelli graduated from Lawrence Technological University in 2000 with her Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture. She worked at commercial architecture firms designing malls, schools and restaurants locally and nation-wide before joining CBI Design in 2004. Kelli also obtained her teaching certificate from Eastern Michigan University in 2006 and went on to teach Mechanical Drafting, Architecture, CAD, Photography and Engineering courses at the high school level. After being a stay at home mom for several years to her three children, Kelli has recently rejoined CBI Design where she enjoys helping clients make their project a home. In her free time, she enjoys biking, game nights, reading, walking her Golden Retriever puppy and simply spending time with her family and friends.

Andrea Dryden

Andrea is a CAD Operator with the firm and focuses primarily on the interior architecture aspect of projects. She moved to the Metro Detroit area from Petoskey, Michigan in order to pursue an education in Interior Architecture at Lawrence Technological University. Looking into her senior year, she can’t wait to graduate and transition into a full time designer. While at Lawrence Tech, she worked with the head of her department to develop a student chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and also was elected the President of Greek Council at the university for the 2016-2017 school year. While not at work or in class, nothing makes her happier than heading back home to enjoy the sunny days on the lake, or the winter weather skiing.

Sandi has been Office Manager for CBI Design Professionals since September 2010. She is responsible for team coordination and billing. Office management has been a part of her life for over 10 years. Sandi especially enjoys watching clients’ dreams turn into reality with homes that are simply amazing. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her husband and two girls.

Maris Elliott
Technical Administrative Assistant | Email
Maris likes wearing the many different hats in her job as Technical Administrative Assistant to the project managers. From her day-to-day tasks, editing in AutoCAD, to the newest assignment of website management, she enjoys them all! Maris graduated from Oakland Community College with an Applied Science degree in Interior Design and is looking forward to growing in the industry.
In addition to Michigan, Maris has lived in Maine and California and loves to travel. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, listening to & playing music, and watching & playing sports, especially baseball!
